And so it begins. What is really important when it comes to finance? I have spent countless hours on the internet looking for the next big insight into everyday ways to save a little $$$. Of course you see the usual suspects…don’t buy a latte and make sure to put money into your 401K, especially if your company matches. I guess what I have been looking for is ways for this working father and husband to responsibly build wealth while at the same time living my life to the fullest. Saving for 4 kids to go to college while at the same time enjoying those kids while we are on vacation together. I don’t really get into the “extreme” money saving methods…though I have a lot of respect for those that do! In a world with 4 boys in the house, I want my kids to flush the toilet…”if it’s yellow, let it mellow” just doesn’t work for us!
I believe that there is a fair bit of low hanging fruit to be plucked when it comes to balancing expenses and income. That is why I have decided to start sharing the many ideas that I have come up with over the years in an effort to help others find some of those everyday savings ideas.
Hopefully as the weeks go by you might pick up an idea or two that helps you along your money way. I look forward to sharing with everyone how my wife and I do our weekly meal planning and shopping, identify areas to cut electricity usage throughout the home, and even looking for opportunities to spend a little in order to save even more. I never dreamed of writing a blog but I have been spending so much time focusing on everything from finding the best TV plan for our family to figuring our which grocery store to shop at for certain products, that I just wanted to find a way to share.
Am I qualified? I’ll let everyone else the be judge as the weeks go on. I suppose that if no one reads what I have to say…then I’m not and that’s OK. On the other hand, if anyone takes away just one or two ideas, then I guess there might be something useful here.
